Their luck changed thanks to Instagram, which was especially lucky for the audience. In 2016, the two Egyptian dancers Noura Seif Hassanein and Salma Abdel Salam began to upload photos and videos of their projects on social media. “To make the creative process a bit more playful”, they say. Their first video as the dance collective nasa4nasa shows them smiling, with table tennis bats and a large trophy. The sport motif remains: now the former danceWEBbers turn the stage into a squash court – in Cairo, it was the other way round for want of a different performance venue: a squash court became the stage. They put on red leotards à la Merce Cunningham for this duet and transform the strictly defined space into a “landscape of collapse”. The synchronously moving bodies dance with the space to the multi-layered music and from this real beauty emerges a striking as an intensity.
