Cie. Willi Dorner (AT)
Due to the injury of a company member this performance must unfortunately be canceled.
He is Europe’s specialist in choreographic surveys of the relationships between the human body and the nooks, niches and labyrinths of the city. Now Willi Dorner refers to one of his most important early works, in which he explored the complex interactions between physical appearance and somatic sensibility: mazy premiered at ImPulsTanz in 1999. An anniversary! Now mazy returns in a reworked version. Based on the Alexander Technique and the phenomenology of famous philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Dorner describes the piece as an “experimental setup” on the “impenetrability of humans to themselves”. All intellectual background aside: to Heinz Ditsch’s wonderfully rich-in-contrast music, striking sequences are advanced to virtuoso compactness in this dance.
