Btissame Amadour & Florentina Holzinger
A Fighting Workshop
People who needed to struggle through life as a young person, are looking for self-confidence and security. How can we work on our self-confidence, train our bodies and "make theatre" at the same time?
In this workshop we work on our Ninja-confidence. The training methods of boxing and other martial art techniques are the inspiration for a playful workout, just like Rocky Balboa or Jackie Chan. With cushions, partners and in groups we move between self-defence and film-stunts. We invite appalled and dauntless Ninjas, who are adventurous and happy to dive into a unique experience and stage experiment. Together we will confront fears and turn them into a strength.
For the workshop Florentina Holzinger invited the martial arts teacher Btissame Amadour to teach the Ninja-mind-set and to learn how to overcome fears. Children and youth of all backgrounds and movement experiences are welcome.
"Fear is the greatest obstacle for learning in any area, but in particular in boxing. For example, boxing you learn through repetition. You do it over and over and suddenly you’ve got it… however in the course of trying to learn, if you get hit and you get hurt, that makes you cautious, and when you’re cautious you can't repeat it and when you can’t repeat it, it’s going to delay the learning process…" – Cus D’Amato, trainer of Mike Tyson
