CI Subversive – Sportive
The contact body is a physical, an experiencing and a responsive body. Dancing together is an art making process. The proposal of this workshop is to begin by dancing with focusing on the original experimental and radical proposals of Contact, then moving from sensation towards the acrobatic dimension of CI and to further discover its art-sport like nature. Investigating changing speed; being disoriented; falling into all directions where up is down and down is up; being on our hands and in the air unexpectedly; letting the weight "do the work"; inviting the not knowing; working with speed, momentum and trusting our reflexes will be in the centre of the practices. By being in the dance with an open state of mind, with the responsive body we do reflect to the world we live in. How does this art – sport shape our questions today about CI, about expressions, bodies and their relations? How does the CI practice influence our improvisation performance today? Is there anything behind (or beyond) the recognisable style of CI moves? With these questions (and more) in the back of our mind we will reflect on our performative dancing.
The workshop is open for those who have a good understanding and practice of the CI basic principles.
