Akemi Takeya sets up a battle between “Actionism” and “Lemonism”; adapts, confronts and re-enacts the strategies of Actionism. Lemonism focuses on the body as material of “the I” including 71 items in a trial of finding a new perspective to present the body. The lemon becomes a metaphor for transforming each of the 71 items: Flesh acts as flesh, juice for blood, cut for cut.
International and Vienna based dance and performance artists take a fresh glance on the concept and the ideas of actionism and related performance art from the 1960ies and 70ies. In the performance series Redefining Action(ism), a cooperation between ImPulsTanz and mumok, they develop actions, interventions, performances in and for mumok’s current exhibition My body is the event. Viennese Actionism and International Performance.
