Albert Quesada (BE/ES)
Wagner & Ligeti
Young choreographer Albert Quesada combines most delicate through to ecstatic movements performed by five dancers with expectant silence and György Ligeti’s “Lontano” and Richard Wagner’s “Tannhäuser” overture to create an intense, almost hypnotic examination of orchestral music and its meaning. The sensitive quintet’s bodies find each other, the group condenses into a surging chalice to create tableaux vivants displaying i. e. a musical note and dissolves again at the end. With this impressive sound-and-movement composition, which juxtaposes Ligeti’s non-hierarchical, intellectual dodecaphonic sounds with the clear, rich atmosphere of Wagner’s narrative notes, Quesada creates a new level of experiencing dance and music.
