[8:tension] Young Choreographers' Series

Michael O'Connor (AT/US)

Tertiary

Who knows what’s really going on in the perpetual torrent of our perception? This is a subject enthusiastically explored by scientists and increasingly by choreographers, too. Such as Michael O’Connor from the US, for example, who lives and works in Vienna, among other places. He presents his new piece, “Tertiary”, at [8:tension]. Inspired by his research into neuroscientific theories, according to which the boundaries between people may well be fluid, he examines the phenomenon of empathy in this work together with Raul Maia and Karin Pauer: the way in which human mentalizing and experience-sharing can be used as a toolbox to create a connection among the performers and between them and their audience.
