Ivo Dimchev (BE/BG)
„the P project“
P can stand for anything, says the Bulgarian performance artist and choreographer living in Brussels, Ivo Dimchev, and this is why his P project could be about “a policeman or a prostitute, a piano, a pussy or a printer”. And he indicates: “Again I dig into the world of coincidences to prove that it doesn’t really exist.” Deep-rooted reservations about the concept of transgression through identification are inherent in Dimchev’s work. This is why he only examines himself.
His works display his bizarre imagination and demonstrate his impressive voice and body language. Over and over again, the artist has been looking for connections between the tragedy of death and the funny side of life. His physical and emotional exposure always goes just so far as to move the audience without scaring them off: what is going on is bound to affect the perception of one’s personal sense of modesty. The audience thus becomes part of the performance.
