Love Songs for kids from 13 years of age

This workshop is taking place from July 25 until August 5!

In The Name Of Love, All You Need Is Love, Love Is A Many-Splendored Thing, She Loves You, Yeah Yeah Yeah!

Love. It always has been a huge inspiration for all art forms. Music, film, literature, theatre – in most cases it is all about love.
But how do we dance love? Or rather: how do we show love?
Do we radiate love, or do we show it in little gestures and acknowledgements? Do we need it, or can we not do without it? Why is it, that many sorts of love are denied in such incredibly fierce, sometimes even aggressive ways?
And is love always bound to another person?
Love as the motor of being... is that true?

In this workshop choreographer Ives Thuwis will work together with the participants on the vaunted and cursed phenomenon called love. The aim is to create a short performance within this two weeks. The material will originate from the own experiences, opinions and memories of the participants. Ives Thuwis will facilitate the theatrical realisation ofthese gathered elements and cast them into a performance which will be shown to an interested audience.
Everyone between 13 and 20 years of age is welcome who have already dealt with this topic and dance/movement. Dance experience is not required, but a lot of energy, curiosity and desire for movement and this topic.

Ives Thuwis
Ives Thuwis was a student at the Dance Academy in Tilburg. Following his graduation, he was actively involved for many years with the Dansers Collectief followed by the Moussoux-Bonté company. ?He also danced at the former Speelteater in Ghent in Landschap of Laura, a performance by Eva Bal and Alain Platel. Following the great success of his first creation, Royaal Lyrisch, in the Kopergierty, Ives staged various dance performances which were very well received both in Belgium and abroad. Indeed, his productions have several times been programmed at the Holland Festival. ?His creations in the Kopergierty include: "Men, Tom waits for no man", "Ich wollte nog etwas sagen", "Out in the woods", "Satin and White Wine…" and also "Henry" (3 Ons – Palinckx band – ASKO-ensemble), "The end of an affair and Adieu" (in association with FFT Düsseldorf).
As a choreographer he also created the major international "Brief" project, which the Kopergierty developed together with Dschungel Wien (Vienna), Theaterhaus Gessnerallee (Zürich) and JES (Stuttgart). For a number of years now he has been one of the permanent inspirers / creators of the Kopergierty Theatre Workshops.
