The Poster Workshop
feat. Christoph Bruckner
What happens when the execution of a performance lacks the threedimensional space? How do we inscribe choreography into a sheet of paper? What ist he effect of this reduction and shift into the twodimensional space?
The poster workshop continues the series of experiments "Watch! The Poster Show", initiated by Lisa Hinterreithner in the Winter of 2010/11, which invited the artists Anne Juren, Chris Standfest, Lisa Hinterreithner, Philipp Gehmacher and Amanda Piña.
In the poster workshop we will try it out all together and each for him/herself. Starting from the discussion about the content to the fromation of a blatant idea up to the visual implementation. After five days we will hang our performances and we will only need a vacant wall "and four strips" (as Julius Deutschbauer mentioned at corpusweb.net Febuary 12, 2011).
The "performance poster" is not a media trasfer of a live performance, not a documentation of it, nor a "commercial" for it. It is a performance on the poster – for the poster. A dance piece for a sheet of paper. All possible tools of plane arts are welcome (picture, text, graphic layout) under the terms of creating a print out of the performance.
The "performance poster" is not necessarily asking for choreographic and dance skills from the participants. We all choreograph posters. It would be of great help if you could bring your computer, video camera and digital camera. Everything helpful is welcome! The visual artist Christoph Bruckner, and performance artists, dramturge and choreographer Chris Standfest and Lisa Hinterreithner will lead this workshop together, will help thinking through the personal development and support the graphic implementation of the posters.
"The foyer of a theatre a wall in an office or an advertising pillar ... all fantastic performance spaces. For a performance. For a poster. For a fresh print out of a poster performance. For a very special audience: someone standing in front of a poster, as a performer/confidant – as a solo entertainer with an imagined performance in the head?" (Lisa Hinterreithner)
"Coming from a desire of something like 'the times should change' the 'Hidden Performer's Collective' was initiated. A partie imaginaire. A poster as a formulated privatism-manifestation with all the love for the public." (Chris Standfest, Febuary 1, 2011 at the Arts Association in Salzburg)
