topsy & turvey
video dance theatre for children from 7 to 12 Years

This video dance project will be about “topsy and turvey”, so being in good shape is demanded. ...as it goes round in the jungle, nothing stays in place, the least the tables, benches, sofas and lamps. Books and rulers will turn into rhythmical instruments and the world map into the setting. Daily life of the young dancers changes into a fantastic dance theatre. They will not only be dancers and performers, but they will invent related to the contrasts under and above, hot and cold, young and old, beautiful and ugly, fat and thin, poor and rich, and they may play with their fantasy all in all. Please bring your own toys with!

In this workshop we will work with dance and video. With the topic “topsy and turvey” children will record scenes with children. Dance and video will interact via projection and live dance sequences. With the images and dance video clips we want to keep developing the website www.tanztheater-global.com, live and virtual.



Be Van Vark
Artistic Director of www.tanztheater-global.com, an internet-danceproject, and from 1994 - 2002 of 'van Vark' - her own company.
She studied Contemporary Dance in London, New York and Berlin. Since 20 years Van Vark is a teacher of Contemporary Dance, working in Berlin and internationally. She has given workshops and master-classes in Greece, USA, Denmark, UK, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria and Russia.
Since 2001 she has been Director of the department of Stage Dance at Etage (Schule für die Darstellenden Künste e.V.), in Berlin, where she is a teacher for Modern Dance and does international performance-projects. Furthermore she is Director of Dance at 'Jugend Kunst Kultur International' at Schlesische 27 and is doing workshops internationally with children and adolescents.

Alexi Papadopoulos
Alexander did his first sequences for short films when he was 9 years of age. And he stayed with filmmaking. Being an allrounder he wrote the scripts for his many short films and films, his video installations and teaching videos, he was directing them, did the camera, and was responsible for cutting, sound and lights.
He is connected with Be Van Vark through some years of cooperation and several artistic projects. These days he is working on the international documentary „Devided God“ in the „European Network of Young Cinema“, called „Nisi Masa“.
