Elizabeth Corbett, former soloist dancer with William Forsythe’s Ballett Frankfurt and a mother of a ten year old girl, employs the natural connection to music children have, their special ways of communicating and their playful nature to introduce them to the world of dance through games and improvisation that are both challenging and funny.

Creative Ballet for the 6 to 8 years old
sharing the joy of dancing

In this workshop for children, Elizabeth Corbett introduces some basic ballet exercises designed to encourage awareness of directions in space and basic body alignment for ballet, along with improvisation, music from around the world, and games to nurture young dancer's spirits. Elizabeth Corbett draws her inspiration from her own introduction to dance as a child, as well as through her experience in teaching children, assisting in children's dance performances, and sharing the joy of dancing with her daughter, now aged ten.


Classical Ballet
a clear language

Elizabeth Corbett, who was a principal soloist of the Ballet Frankfurt with William Forsythe for more than a decade will give special emphasis to alignment and musicality. Her teaching style is classical in the true sense of the word, as she conveys the classical movement vocabulary with great clarity. With regard to technical abilities, discipline and continuity, she focuses on clear body and spatial directions, rhythm and flow in movement, and clear focus and presence, as well as the understanding of anatomy as a prerequisite for respecting our own bodies. She's inspired by teachers who have strongly affected her learning process and her dancing; Marjorie Mussman and Maggie Black.


Elizabeth Corbett
After scholarship studies at the School of American Ballet and training with Marjorie Mussman Elizabeth danced first with the Joffrey Ballet in New York and then with the Frankfurt Ballett for many years. She was a charter member of Forsythe's Frankfurt company. Since dancing with the Frankfurt Ballett she has been teaching ballet, Forsythe repertory and improvisation technologies for The Forsythe Foundation and independently internationally. Most recently she has been affiliated with The American Dance Festival, teaching her full range of course studies to young dancers, professionals and Masters of Fine Arts students. She has taught for ten years at Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's school P.A.R.T.S. and has been Dance Development Coordinator for six years there. 2008 marks her 13th year of engagement at ImpulsTanz. Other recent guest teaching affiliations include: Tanz im August Berlin, Circuit-est in Montréal, Kuopio Dance Festival, Panetta Movement Center, and Dance Ireland.
