Info

"No wind no word" a quote from Anna LiviaPlurabelle`s monologue in James Joyces`s "Finnegans Wake", marks a pause, a kind of nulltime -early morning, shortly before a new, wild day is about to replace an old, restless night. The nine choreographers (Meg Stuart, Vera Mantero, Xavier Le Roy, Benoit Lachambre, Raimund Hooghe, Emio Greco/PC, Joao Fiadeiro, Boris Charmatz, Jérome Bel) presented in this book all developed their opus from a similar level of new beginning - even if in entirely different directions. "No wind no word" is an attempt at sounding an explosive area of art, which is staked off by some of the most exeptional personalities in the field of - especially European -dance performance. In nine portraits, work-biographic structures and artistic approaches crystallise which guide dance towards social and art-specific discourses that determine our current social, cultural and private lives.

Helmut Ploebst studied Communication and Art History at the University of Vienna and in 1989 took his degree with a PhDthesis on questions of art ideology in Vienna between 1918 and 1938.
