A Hammond organ, a laptop, impressive Lesley loudspeakers, a man and a woman. And a memorial for the first computer that came to Iceland in 1964, a device of the type IBM 1401. Choreographer and dancer Erna Ómarsdóttir and musician Jóhann Jóhannson come from Iceland. They are jogging the memory of this first computer. The young woman’s agile body seems to be electrified, resembles a manic-depressive robot who, with shocking speed, is scribbling frantic patterns into space. „IBM 1401 – a user’s manual“ is a fantasy about the brave new world of cyborgs.
