Jérôme Bel (FR)
Cédric Andrieux

Cédric Andrieux is an exceptional dancer. And the French great of contemporary dance, Jérôme Bel, is a choreographer who is particularly interested in the semiotics of that which is exceptional. As was, for example, the case with Thai dancer Pichet Klunchun, with whom he danced a duet, and with Brazilian dancer Isabel Torres. At ImPulsTanz 2005, Jérôme Bel performed his touching solo “Véronique Doisneau” in the Burgtheater as part of the festival opening evening of the Ballet de l’Opéra National de Paris. This solo was the beginning of a series of dancers’ portraits with which the conceptualist has been consulting the experience and the knowledge of dancers since 2004. “Cédric Andrieux” is the latest work in this series. In it, Andrieux talks about both his personal and his professional life that has been full of changes, e.g. having been a member of Merce Cunningham’s company before joining the Lyon Opera Ballet.
