"Skènè“

A vehement plea for encounters held via an excellently composed duet “ ‘Skènè,’ a jewel to be cherished,” which is how Jeroen Peeters described the second piece by Etienne Guilloteau, a graduate of P.A.R.T.S., in “De Morgen.” The unorthodox use of Mozart’s music counterposes a puristic choreography of gazes and movements that intervene in long spatially oriented movements. Although the dancers never touch each other, the duo indirectly casts a fine web that gradually becomes more dense. Like in the eye of the storm, Guilloteau creates an atmosphere that simultaneously emits quietude and restlessness, minimalism and ecstatic excess.
