"Letters from Tentland“

Tents are subject to a limited lifetime, they roam through time, they bend in time. They are elastic and provide protection. Renowned for her unconventional projects, Berlin based Director Helena puts six Iranian performers and seven tents on stage in her highly acclaimed “Letters from Tentland.” Shielded from the gaze of the audience almost as if “under cover” the performers are inside the tents. The tent walls begin to sway and are suddenly caught up in energetic movements as they dance and whirl around as if they were about to take flight, or in another moment they are artfully folded to serve as envelopes for letters from a camp someplace. In this way, they are like a second skin for those who trying to save their own skin: people between two cultures and beneath one open sky.
