Sparkling sequences of movement on pounded clay. The three exquisite dancers kick up fine dust with their feet that then floats around them as if it were a magical veil of haze in the dreamlike stage lighting. Indian music rings out - along with jazz inspired by eastern music - packaged as John Coltrane’s “India.” Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's vibrant trio “Desh” is an intimate chamber drama and a fantastically fragile adventure. Alongside dancer Marion Ballester, previously a member of “Rosas” and emerging talent Salva Sanchis, who both also worked on the choreography, Keersmaeker dances on stage. In front of a simple yet enchanting setting this piece - highly acclaimed by numerous critics - unfolds to become an almost playful and simultaneously demonstrates a masterfully modest virtuosity.
