"Oh, no!"

Tough breakdance and smooth masculinity are the energisers for the new piece “Oh, no!” by young choreographer Dalija Acin from Belgrade, winner of the Prix Jardin d’Europe 2008. It’s a re-examination of concepts like virtuosity and seduction in connection with contemporary dance. “B-boying” provides Acin with the suitable dance language to accumulate materials of movement and it allows her to surprise the audience with the accomplishments of intelligent bodies. At the same time, the artist also analyses those aspects of masculinity which possess – albeit mostly carefully hidden – both sensitivity and vulnerability. In “Oh no!”, the dancing body is a phenomenon with unpredictable qualities. Which it employs convincingly.
