"SPITZE"

“SPITZE” – an examination of classical dance, its people, its hierarchies, its worlds of illusion and its images of the body. An encounter between Susanne Kirnbauer, 1st principal dancer (retired) at the Vienna State Opera, Harald Baluch, principal dancer, and Doris Uhlich, who started pointe dancing at the age of 30. The performers abandon their usual stage presences and means of representation, finding new approaches to their own biographies as dancers. “I am interested in finding the ‘flesh’ within ballet, and at the same time in tracking down pathos in such a way that it can be staged in a wafer-thin to extremely rich manner, and be dealt with. This allows the ballet dancers and me to enter into a form of contact that is both human and at the same time codified.” (Doris Uhlich)
