"Tanzgeschichten"

A gentle noise caused by the grinding of coffee beans, which soon will spread their flavour all through the theatre. A smallish man, his back rounded by a hump, and a young dancer are performing a small ritual of gestures and mutual trust. This scene is at the core of Raimund Hoghe’s "Tanzgeschichten". To all those who take pleasure in his calm, almost meditative master pieces, the winner of the prestigious German producer award for choreography 2001 offers another two hour journey into a different world. "Tanzgeschichten" is Hoghe’s dance story. He relates it together with the charismatic former Béjart ballerina Ornella Balestra, the dancers Lorenzo Brabandere and Geraldo Sil and the Austrian choreographer/dancer Philipp Gehmacher as guest performer – accompanied by the songs of Marianne Faithfull, Gigliola Cinquetti, Dean Martin and Johnny Cash.
