Rosas / Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker (BE)
Gala "Soirée Répertoire"
Anna Teresa De Keersmaeker’s anniversary piece for the 20th birthday of her company Rosas is a poetic symphony of movement, colours and music. "Soirée Répertoire" unites five of her works, among them the solo "Violin Phase" from "Fase" (1982), "French Suite" from "Toccata" (1993) and "The Great Fugue" from "Erts" (1992) – an exciting journey right through the body of work of Europe’s perhaps most important choreographer.
"(but if a look should) April me"
Azure, scarlet and golden brown– this is "but if a look should April me". The title taken from a poem by E.E. Cummings, the music by Stravinsky, Mozart, Thierry de Mey and Jannis Xenakis, among others, crossed with Italian and Indian folk songs – De Keersmaeker celebrates the art of dance in ecstatic images.
"Small Hands (out of the lie of no)"
The duet created by the choreographer and her first dancer Cynthia Loemij is a technically perfect, sensitive work accompanied by the music of Henri Purcell and featuring De Keersmaeker herself on stage.
