A cosy nightclub. A woman the size of a two year old is dancing in tutu and toe shoes. An elderly man is throwing tomatoes at a tall blonde beauty. The same man will soon be admiring and caressing the childlike woman. A video shows an ideal world without barriers, yet the following live performance will have the man with the tomatoes and a young couple live a rather limited life in front of a high fence surrounding a pretty little garden. In „Le jardin“, a piece by the Belgian collective Peeping Tom, broken dreams dance with unbearable loneliness, sudden violence ruptures shallow cosiness, a worthy little garden is turned into the scene of a claustrophobic nightmare.
