"Lac des Singes"
A slip of the tongue marked the beginning of "Lac deS Singes" ("Monkey Lake"). Belgian choreographer Hans van den Broeck created a turbulent paraphrase of "Swan Lake", which incorporates the lapse as a symbol for all the shortcomings of modern society. "Lac deS Singes", so French dance journalist Jean Marc Adolphe, celebrates the fundamental anarchy of life, an anarchy no zoo (or corps de ballet) will ever be able to grasp or command.
