Aatt! Enen! Tionon! Three stage platforms. Aa! Chch! Tungung! Three dancers in T-shirts on three platforms which are assembled to form a layered, blocklike, five meters high sculpture. They are young and healthy, yet also isolated and lonesome. Parted from each other and faced with their own selves two men and a woman with naked lower body parts are dancing; their dance consists of paradox and strictly asymmetrical soli. „Aatt enen tionon“ is an early piece by Boris Charmatz, one of the most important experimental choreographers in present-day France. The premiere in 1996 was followed by fierce debates, which were mostly concerned with its brutal, anti-erotic display of nakedness. The piece comes without tricks or false bottoms. It bluntly depicts processes within individual isolation, whether they take place on the oppressive ground floor, in the shop window of the first floor or in the giddy height with its constant danger of falling down. „Aatt enen tionon“ constitutes one of the most important works within a conceptual approach in 1990s European dance.
