Ismael Ivo was confirmed Director of Dance Sector at the Biennale of Venice for the next three years (2009 – 2011). This was announced by the Biennale Counsel chaired by President Paolo Baratta, entrusting Ivo with the articulation of a three year’s modular project which comprises workshops, seminars, symposium and festival, all under the title GRADO ZERO.

After the conclusion of the quadrennial 2005 – 2008 focused on the theme of body (BODY ATTACK, UNDER SKIN, BODY & EROS) and, finally, of BEAUTY – looked in reference to choreography and contemporary ideas – Ismael Ivo opens a new chapter at Dance Biennale. GRADO ZERO indicates a new path which extends the idea of the festival oriented to a more comprehensive project. Researching different visions for the future of dance, developing and compassing the creativity of young talents, experimenting new forms and new languages are the components of this three year’s route which Ismael Ivo will tackle and develop in different phases.
