A slow dance’s march though the night. As if the elegiac, vanished rave culture had returned for a short time as a ghostly after image of soft, mechanical loops where five rather anonymous figures bend in slow, synchronised formations into the night.
Ben J. Riepe, German choreographer and former dancer with VA Wölfl, meets up with the motif of the “doppelganger” in his nightly occupation. Two men in gymnastic vests move together like Siamese twins, the women join in as if to reveal the lockstep nature of leisure-time dancing. The light changes them into silhouettes with hip swings, like disco in slow motion.
