Claire Croizé
"Affected"
2007 © Raymond Mallentjer

After her highly-regarded debut, “Blowing up”, French choreographer Claire Croizé who graduated from P.A.R.T.S. in 2000, has developed an extraordinary choreographic trio.
Three solos by three young women that might be classified as a discreet return of pathos. With string and felt blankets and to the touching music of Gustav Mahler they build the fleeting landscapes of their entrances and exits. With supplicating gestures and speeding facial expressions, with sobbing laughter and crying they wrestle with lamentations of finiteness. The costume, with puff sleeves and flowing felt skirts, plays around the figure of the great operatic diva. In front of a white projection surface each dies by herself, falling many times, rising and falling yet again in little operatic deaths, every move a sigh.
