"Porcelain"

“Porcelain” started off as an artistic dialogue between dancer and choreographer Preethi Athreya, composer Tobias Stürmer and sculptor Walter Stürmer who, among other things, creates porcelain sculptures. The result is an abstract choreographic voyage of exploration of ravishing beauty, a sophisticated poetic interplay between visual elements, a moving body and the specially composed music full of nuances.

“To get to know one’s own body is a meditative act. A willful observation and acknowledgement of a particular kind of physicality that you begin to recognise. An unapologetic body – marked as much by what it knows as by what it keeps discovering. Harder than steel, brittle as ceramic. Translucent.” (Preethi Athreya)

Preethi Athreya studied Bharatanatyam in India and dance studies at the Laban Centre in London. She has been a member of Padmini Chettur’s company since 1999.
