Afro Brazilian Dance Advanced

The technique mediated in this workshop is based on the dance style developed in 28 years of my experience as a teacher. Additionally to the fundamentals in Afro-Brazilian Dance, I studied various dance styles in Africa, the US, Asia and Europe. Today my work is exemplary for the African Contemporary Dance of the beginning of the 21. century.

My advanced workshops are aiming for:

- improvement of the feeling for rhythm through choregrafic work with changing rhythm
- higher movement quality through differentiated use of the whole energy range
- higher control of the movement energy through the strengthening of the connection to the centre of the body
- finding the identity as a dancer and the own style through improvisation
- facilitation of the energy flow through the efficient use of space

Regina Ribeiro
Regina Ribeiro, singer, composer, dancer and teacher, was born in São Paulo, Brazil. She was educated in Brazil, USA, France, Austria, the Ivory Coast, Ghana and Switzerland. She studied and delved into Afro-Brazilian, African, Modern, Modern Ethnic (K.Dunham technique) and Jazz Dances as well as Ballet, Barre au Sol, Butoh, Tai Chi, Yoga and anatomy.
She toured with her various choreographies, dance pieces and music through Brazil, the USA, Japan and numerous European countries. Since 25 years she is living in Switzerland where she worked as a trainer at the University of physical education of Bern for 12 years and where she lead the International Black Dance Center (Bern) from 2001 to 2006. One of the many projects and organisations she is involved in, is the central office for teachers education in the canton of Bern, department of Culture and Development, the École Paris Centre, the Festival d’Avignon and varioous dance fstivals in Europe, South America, Africa and the US.
