Classical Ballet
a clear language
Elizabeth Corbett offers a rigorous Classical Ballet class with emphasis on alignment, musicality and discovering freedom to move well in this genre. She forms the class drawing from dance experiences traditional to unconventional. You will explore organisation of directions in the body and in space to clarify and simplify body placement issues and mechanics, differentiation in movement qualities, weight, speed and focus as major issues. Elizabeth draws from her professional dance experience (William Forsythe, AT De Keersmaeker, The Joffrey Ballet), background in classical dance education (The School of American Ballet, The Joffrey School/Meridith Baylis, Marjorie Mussman, The National Academy of Dance), and current influences from classical to contemporary as she continues teaching, studying and creating work.
Forsythe Repertory Hypothetical Stream and Die Befragung des Robert Scott
lot’s of fun through the rigour of the process
Toward accessing an experience in Forsythe's dance approach we will explore phrases of movement and modalities from Forsythe's works "Hypothetical Stream" and "Die Befragung des Robert Scott". In this exploration of Forsythe's work we'll intergrate movement and forms ranging from classical to contemporary and release, and a bit of improvisation - a signature of Forsythe's work.
Forsythe Repertory "Loss of Small Detail"
lot’s of fun through the rigour of the process
We will explore phrases and fragments from Forsythe's "Loss of Small Detail", ranging from the more classical to the more contemporary and release-based work. We'll dance the phrases, explore integration and modification of the forms, and go on to improvise -referencing the material and the unfolding inner logic of the hybrids we develop. In small groups we'll use the Forsythe phrases as a point of departure for movement and forms of dialogue discovered in the process.
Kreativer Kindertanz from 3 to 5 Years
challenging and funny
Elizabeth's fifteen years of experience in children's dance are inspired by her own dance experiences as a child, her daughter's influence and some of playful challenges offered through ballet syllabus training and cross hemispheric training. All in all it's about offering challenges through which children can explore the space around them and their imaginations. It's about having fun and celebrating the dance spirit, so alive in children!
Kreatives Ballett from 6 to 8 Years
sharing the joy of dancing
Balancing an introduction to ballet with fun and creativity in dance, we explore ballet at the barre and in the centre, alongside creative dance. Alignment in the body and directions in space, an introduction to turn-out and barre exercises, and jumping, turning and improvising with scarves to music will be our main focal points. There's plenty of opportunity for the students to ask questions about ballet basics, and for enjoying the celebration of creative dance together!
