[8:tension] Young Choreographers' SeriesPere Faura (E/NL)
"Striptease"
In “Striptease”, the title is the motto: the performance by the Spanish choreographer is a striptease yet at the same time a video lecture dance performance about the mechanisms of desire in theatre. In a humorous and fervent manner Faura compares striptease with theatre while doing one, and still his audience is surprised. Faura considers voyeurism to be linked with striptease and reflects it ironically while subversively turning the strict assignment of roles of performers and audience around. Aren’t we all naked, in one way or another? And what happens when the classical script of a striptease is crossed with the game of absence as an element of contemporary theatre?
Pere Faura is a choreographer and a dancer living in Amsterdam. He has worked e.g. for Jérôme Bel, Ivana Müller and Caroliens Hermans. He won a danceWEB scholarship and presented his works at La Caldera (Barcelona), at the Gasthuis (Amsterdam) and at the Springdance Festival (Utrecht), among others.
