"Pour en finir avec MOI"
“How is my body to be hurled into battle? How to do it? How to face it? How to prove the self? It is intimate and painful evidence of the self to find and situate myself in my genuine fantasy: DANCING” (Radhouane El Meddeb). After years of success as an actor, El Meddeb – who grew up in Tunisia and now lives in Paris – changed over to dance. However, not without asking himself in a radical manner what his role, his place as a dancer on stage can and should be. Inspired by the accompanying music of Arvo Pärt, he measures the scope between gestures and words, between narration and space with minimalist as well as grand movements.
“His work has an integrity and a theatrical pacing that makes for absorbing viewing.” (Roslyn Sulcas, New York Times)
