Chaos and Order
Working with the Brain in Movement

This weekend will focus on embodiment of the spinal cord and brain as a way to enter into realms of „mind“ specific to the different levels of organization in the spinal cord and brain. Participants will be guided through explorations of brain initiation and support for specific developmental movement patterns that underlie all movement through space, and will be offered some keys to increasing efficiency and ease of movement from a Body-Mind Centering perspective.

RoseAnne Spradlin
RoseAnne Spradlin, New York City-based choreographer, has deeply explored the phenomenon of body-mind and its multiple manifestations in contemporary performance work. She has become known for her raw, emotionally authentic dances. She is a long time protégé of Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, the founder of Body-Mind Centering. Spradlin has created several major works since the premier of her Bessie Award-winning work under/world in 2002: 2003 Rearrangement (or a Spell for Mortals) premiered at The Kitchen NY, 2004 Future Past and 2006 Survive Cycle premiered at Dance Theater Workshop. In January 2004 Dance Magazine named Spradlin as one of the leading experimental choreographers „revealing the emotional body ... (using) emotional authenticity as compositional structure“ (Chris Dohse).
Spradlin has been a recipient of numerous fellowships, funds, and grants and was named an artist-in-residence at Movement Research in 1999. For ten years Spradlin operated SQUID Performance Space in NY. She is a certified teacher of Body-Mind Centering since 1992.

ROSEANNE SPRADLIN DANCE will also perform at ImPulsTanz 2007 with “Survive Cycle” on August 6 at the Schauspielhaus.
