Contemporary Basics
to understand your own body
Description of workshop for beginners: The purpose of this workshop, besides having fun, is to build a deeper awareness of the qualities of: rhythm, coordination, density, and intention which give meaning to our movements. I believe the only technique you need is knowledge of your body and use of your imagination. The class incorporates set material, guided improvisation and group tasks so we may be better equipped to physically express ourselves with creativity, clarity and honesty.
Contemporary Technique
integration of choice and time into spontaneous movement
A yoga based warm-up and standing exercises are designed to bring attention to the integrity of the body and to the opposition and release of energy. A guided improvisation helps dancers to put their new experience into practice in their own movement style. Instructions are given to help discover new potentials of quality, rhythm, space and focus, thus the integration of choice, time and connection becomes a part of spontaneous movement. The last part is a choreographed exercise to help find the dynamic of unpredictability and a chance to employ the class objectives in a new language.

He has danced with Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Rambert Dance Company, Sasha Waltz and various freelance choreographers. He is teaching regular for Ultima Vez, Rosas, Charleroi Danses, Sasha Waltz and various open classes around Europe.
