Contemporary Technique
integration of choice and time into spontaneous movement

A yoga based warm-up and standing exercises are designed to bring attention to the integrity of the body and to the opposition and release of energy. A guided improvisation helps dancers to put their new experience into practice in their own movement style. Instructions are given to help discover new potentials of quality, rhythm, space and focus, thus the integration of choice, time and connection becomes a part of spontaneous movement. The last part is a choreographed exercise to help find the dynamic of unpredictability and a chance to employ the class objectives in a new language.

Ted Stoffer
Ted Stoffer formed Aphasia Dance Company in 1998 to create a framework in which to investigate the language of the human body. He believes in the observation of the rhythms of breath, thought, action, reaction and contemplation in the initiation of ones' intent allowing universalism in the individual expression to be revealed. He has danced with Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Rambert Dance Company, Sasha Waltz and various freelance choreographers. He is teaching regular for Ultima Vez, Rosas, Charleroi Danses, Sasha Waltz and various open classes around Europe.
