Body Control Pilates
minimalistic-like exercises

Each class has 4 phases of activity with centring, muscle strengthening, muscle stretching and relaxation. Our main focus will be on fluent movement series that emphasize dynamic coordination of muscular stretching, strengthening and correct breathing. After stretches and warm-up that are mainly done lying on the floor specific exercises will follow geared towards strengthening particular muscles while releasing others. As we re-establish the natural muscular balance additional performance potential will be released that otherwise is held by physical tension. The participants will learn about the neutral position of the pelvis, the basic principles of Pilates and the 12 main Pilates exercises.


Barbara Mayr
Barbara Mayr is Pilates trainer, laugh therapist, dancer and architect. As an architect she had influence on the planning of wellknown buildings such as Café Gloriette in Schönbrunn and Spiegelwohnturm at the Gasometer in Vienna. Through modern expressive dance she got to know Pilates method. Since she finished her training education at Body Control Pilates in England she has been heading the Pilates Academy in Vienna.
