Release Ballet
A study in pure energy direction

My ballet class utilizes the alignment and stretching of ballet, the speed and lightness of Balanchine, and incorporates the idea of release technique to find true movement and dance as ballet has to offer. The class will start with a basic barré and build up to an intense flow of movement, that is easy and organic yet powerful - at the same time.

Forsythe Repertory
Forsythe and Rizzi Repertory

"The repertory class will include solo and group material from Firsttext, a piece I co-choreographed with William Forsythe at the Royal Ballet for Sylvie Guillem. If time permits and depending on the number of participants in the class and their desire of what they want to do, they can learn a pas de deux from Firsttext. This piece does not use much music and relies on the dancers own inner rhythm and music. We can also work on a variation from Quintett with music by Gavin Bryars, or a solo from Enemy in the Figure with music from Thom Willems. It all depends on the feeling we have in the class. The space will be open and free.
In order to learn all the details of these steps and making them your own it is important to attend all classes of the workshop.
I will also incorporate ways of how one can go about destilling narratives out of abstract movement, to help inspire the dancers in their movement and also to help them remember that everything and nothing is important - all at the same time."
