"Erase-E(X)"

It seems quite natural when it happens in our heads but in art it is still a shock: the deletion of one motif in favour of another. The Brussels choreographer and ex- Rosas dancer Johanne Saunier (with Jim Clayburgh: Joji Inc) was inspired by the painter Robert Rauschenberg who in the 50's erased a drawing by Willem De Kooning and over-painted it. In Joji Incs' piece "ERASE-E(X)" the New York Wooster group erases Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's choreographic forms who in turn erases everything psychological from this re-working. Finally the director and choreographer Isabella Soupart makes a "thriller" from this material.
