REDISCOVERING CONCEPTS
RESEARCH PROJECT BY DEJA DONNE 2010/2011
PRACTICAL RESEARCH
The practical research in the studio will be led by Simone Sandroni (DEJA DONNE) and followed by 6 dancers (4 professional dancers + 2 selected students from different European dance academies). The research will be divided in 4 chapters: "FLOOR", "CONTACT", "SPACE", "TIME" and each of them will have a duration of 1 month. At the end of each chapter-process a presentation of achieved results will take place in a form of a work in progress, a discussion, and a lecture of the theoretical research results. At the end of the 4th chapter the achieved experience of the group will allow to create a performance. The creation will be developped in collaboration with international partners (festivals, venues) in the form of co-producers.
The aims of the parctical part of the project are i) to analyze the working model of DEJA DONNE, ii) to set a stable company collaborators for future DEJA DONNE project iii) to create a final performance.
THEORETICAL RESEARCH
The theoretical research will be directed and coached by Dr. Katja Schneider from University of Munich. 3-4 university students will be selected to follow the process as a part of their studies and will follow the practical research process to fulfill the tasks requested by their assistant. The theoretical work is based on the practical experience, following the movement research in the studio, discussing the practical research with the director and the dancers, work out concepts concerning the main categories "FLOOR", "CONTACT", "SPACE", "TIME" and its systematization. Presentation of a lecture about the process and results at the end of each chapter. The research will be supported by discovering of similar concepts in the dance of the 1980ies (especially the Belgian dance scene where Simone Sandroni and Lenka Flory were situated). This research is based on interviews with selected company directors and dancers and also on published material. It is aimed at a specific dance history of the 1980ies, focused on the aspects of the practical research. At the end of the practical process there will be a publication to cover all achieved information. It will bring together the specific work of DEJA DONNE and a the mentioned desideratum of dance and drama research concerning the 1980ies. An integrated DVD will document the practical research.
The aims of the theatretical research are i) to describe and analyse the process and the results of the practical work by DEJA DONNE, ii) to research dance concepts and body concepts of the dance of the 1980ies, iii) to contextualise the results of the DEJA DONNE research with the dance of the 1980ies, iv) to bring out a publication with DVD (based on the practical research) on the whole project.

5. November — presentation in Teatro Bertold Brecht in collaboration with University of Perugia and Teatro Stabile dell’Umbria
6. November — presentation in teatro Comunale dell’Accademia in Tuoro sul Trasimeno in collaboration with Teatro Stabile dell’Umbria
