ImPulsTanz TURBO Residencies

Nathalie Koger (D/A) with Annabel Carberry (AUS/UK)
„Artisten, Tiere, Distraktionen“ oder „Luft und Hiebe“ auf jeden Fall „Manege, high!“
„At some time in the future I want to make a show about fear. I am very interested in the idea that circus (though this doesn't relate so much to hula hoops), makes us feel more alive as it reminds us of our mortality whilst at the same time defying it. Moreover, the idea of performing something highly skilfully reminds us of the possibilities of what each and everyone is capable of in her or his individual capacity. What I mean are the skills required to perform something that is very difficult and takes time and patience to learn, makes you think of the amazing potential for extraordinary things. It can inspire people to explore new avenues for themselves. I am interested to work with Nathalie as a way to experience another approach to performing and circus.“ A.C.
„I invited Annabel Carberry to apply for a residency with me. We met coincidently in a production process of “Erendira: The Revolution” as part of the Fuceccio Festival, Italy, in 2008. I am attracted by the patience of the circus people, their practice, their physicality and their relations to themselves as well as to the audience - all manifested in the production process. In addition I am also thinking more and more about the idea and state of (artistic) integrity evoked by my circus experience. Our artistic collaboration started with a project -still ongoing- using 16mm film as a medium and which deals with performative aspects of the various media. For the residency we will further shift our working relation. Teaching, physicality, circus codes and limits in various (de)manifestations will be crucial, as element and subject, for our project and the time we will spent together at ImPulsTanz.“ N.K.
