Mutter‘s Vielfalt an Masken oder Was zum Teufel gibt‘s denn noch zu opfern. (working title)
a filmproject
66 years after the german 1944 film The Sacrifice by Veit Harlan and 22 years after Christoph Schlingensief's filmic adaptation Mutter's Maske, a group of young artists will meet during summer 2010 to film the the adaptation of the adaptation. A filmnight on 8th of March 2010 at Filmmuseum Vienna, during which both films were screened inside the frame Deutschland in der Nacht - eine Filmgeschichte, gave impulse for this venture.
The planned Reformulation, which does not relate to one film, but will approach and process both films, original and adaption at once, is an attempt to enter into conversation with strategies of reformulation and adaptation as well as with one's cultural history.
with the support of Impulstaz Vienna through a Turbo residency and funds by the Akademie der Bildenden Künste Wien
working time 15th July - 15th August 2010
