Die TeilnehmerInnen des Journalismus-Förderungsprogramms Critical Endeavour sind gleichzeitig die Jury des neuen Preises „Ö1 Prix Jardin d’Europe“, der unter den zwölf ChoreografInnen der [8:tension]+ Serie vergeben wird. Um der Öffentlichkeit Einblicke in die Diskussionsprozesse der Gruppe zu geben, lädt die Jury an drei Spätnachmittagen ein, über die Beurteilung von und das Schreiben über Kunst zu diskutieren. Von und mit Franz Anton Cramer, den DozentInnen und TeilnehmerInnen von Critical Endeavour.

Der deutsch Tanzpublizist Franz Anton Cramer und sein portugiesiser Kollege Tiago Bartolomeu werden das Projekt Critical Endeavour präsentieren. Gemeinsam mit den 11 TeilnehmerInnen - jungen TanzjournalistInnen aus ganz Europa und darüber hinaus - werden sie die Rolle von Kritik bzw. die des Kritikers und der Kritikerin in Bezug zu zeitgenössischem Tanz diskutieren.

German dance critic Franz Anton Cramer and his collegue Gia Kourlas from New York will discuss the relationship between critics and dance artists
together with Iranian-Norwegian choreographer Hooman Sharifi as well as with the 11 participants of the project Critical Endeavour (young dance journalists from all over Europe and beyond).

In the last week of their programme the 11 participants of the Critical Endeavour project will discuss with the mentor of the group, German dance writer Franz Anton Cramer, what they call "realities": the practices of a jury, the questions of transparency and of communiation about art works in this context.

ImPulsTanz faculty – Storm and Bruce Ykanji – lead a public conversation from their personal viewpoints about the evolution of hip-hop as a dance form. In addition, we will discuss the future of the form and where invention resides both in practice and theory, and in training and performance.

Late 20th century New York City was a wild and furious mix of social, political, economic, and artistic forces which were dynamically operating. We will discuss some of the local conditons and practices of this extended period with the aim of exposing how they continue to resonate in works and approaches now.
Current and former New York artists present will be: Penny Arcade, Jennifer Lacey, David Zambrano, Zeena Parkins, DD Dorvillier, Trajal Harrell, and others.
