Simon Versnel, born 1947, trained as a classical singer under the Rotterdam singing-teacher Dini Erkens. Since 1979 he has been performing as both a singer and an actor. He has given several recitals and opera-concerts in the Netherlands and France. He sang and played a lot of varying parts, including Don Andres in „La Perichole“ by Offenbach, Shakespeare in Sondheims „The Frogs“, Sam in Bernsteins „Trouble in Tahiti“ and Petruccio/Fred in „Kiss me, Kate!“ by Cole Porter.
He has acted in various short films, including a Japanese film, shot in 1992 and intended for the Holland Exhibition in Japan. The successful play „Untitled Cowboys“ by Maarten van der Put was the start of his acting-career. In 1993 he joined the Brussels Needcompany and performed in the several productions („Don Quijote“, „Tres“, „Rood, Red, Rouge“, „Few Things“, directed by Grace Ellen Barkey and „Macbeth“, „Morning Song“, „King Lear“ and the movie „The Goldfish Game“, directed by Jan Lauwers).
In between he played in several Dutch productions, ao „Thuis“ by ''Huis aan de Amstel'', later recorded for television. After leaving Needcompany he joined the young dance-theater-group Peeping Tom (Brussels) playing the successfull dance production Le Jardin all over the world seen at ImPulsTanz 2003 in Vienna as well. In spring 2004 they are starting the creation of Le Salon.
He started giving workshops on acting in 2003.
