Viola Farber started her training with Wigman, Graham, and Cunningham TEcchnique. After dancing as a soloist for 15 years in Merce Cunningham Dance Comp. she started her own company and toured throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. During this period she collaborated with Robert Rauschenberg and David Tudor among others. Viola Farber was director the CNDC Angers and has been teaching at numerous prestigious festivals and institutions such as Rosas - La Monnaie/Brussels, American Dance Festival Durham, Théátre Contemporain de la Danse Paris, London Contemporary Dance School and she is currently director of the Dance Program at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY. Viola Farber, a founding member of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, a choreographer and the director of the dance program at Sarah Lawrence College, died on Dec. 24 1998 at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, N.Y. She was 67 and lived in Bronxville.
