Edna Lima (US)
Edna Lima is an internationally distinguished martial artist and sports scientist. Her lifelong study of Brazilian Capoeira and Japanese Karate began 30 years ago and has led her to become the world first female Capoeira Mestranda in Abada Capoeira and a Fifth-degree (Godan) blackbelt in the JKA World Federation.
Edna Lima has been teaching and competing in Austria, Brazil, Columbia, France, Greece, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Spain, Switzerland, and the USA winning 17 international championships. Edna has recently been invited to present Capoeira as a martial arts program at the prestigious Wingate Institute in Israel.
Edna has a post-graduate degree in Sports Science and was appointed an Adjunct Professor in both the Dance and Sports Sciences Departments at Long Island University in NYC.
Five years ago she successfully adapted the dynamic movements of Capoeira into her trademarked Capoeira Workoutâ„¢. Capoeira Workout is a bridge between cultures that links participants in a moving communication with a dynamic aesthetic that transcends artificial boundaries. The methods of Capoeira Workout combine the elegance of dance, the power of martial arts, the science of biomechanics, and the rhythms of Afro-Brazilian music.
