After several engagements in France, e.g. with the Ballet Théâtre Contemporain and with Carolyn Carlson at the Paris Opera, Dominique Mercy joined the Tanztheater Wuppertal/Pina Bausch in 1973. In 1988 he started to teach regularly at the Folkwang-Hochschule in Essen-Werden.
