Artist
Jeremy Nelson (US)
Born in New Zealand and trained at The London School of Contemporary Dance, Jeremy Nelson has been an outstanding dancer with the The Stephen Petronio Dance Company in New York from 1984 to 1992, returning as guest soloist in 1995. In 1991, he won a New York Dance and Performance (“Bessie”) Award for excellent performance with that company.

He now works as an independent choreographer, teacher and dancer. He has performed in the work of David Zambrano, Mia Lawrence, Luis Lara Malvacías and Susan Rethorst as well as in his own work. He collaborated with Kirstie Simson in an improvisational group and performed in installation-improvisations organized by Luis Lara. He is a member of the teaching faculty at Movement Research in New York and a guest artist at Connecticut College. He has taught at the American Dance Festival, at various American universities including New York University Tisch School of the Arts and Bennington College, and to several internationally recognized companies, ao Anna Terese de Keersmaaker’s ROSAS in Brussels, Sasha Waltz Company in Berlin, and Siobhan Davies Dance Company in London. For the last eighteen years he has been teaching classes and workshops all over the world including P.A.R.T.S.School in Brussels, Instituto de Bellas Artes in Cuba, International Summer School of Dance in Tokyo, DansensHus in Copenhagen, and the Kalamata Dance Festival in Greece.

He has been presented and produced in New York since 1994, at and by various wellknown venues such Movement Research at Judson Church, Danspace Project at St Mark’s Church, PS 122, and Dance Theater Workshop. Outside of the US, he has presented his work in various countries, including Venezuela, New Zealand, Sweden, England and Spain and more recently at Tanzfabrik Berlin, Studio 303 in Montreal, Estación Mapocho in Santiago de Chile, and La Porta in Barcelona, and Die Pratze Theater in Tokyo.
