Movement’s independence from every pattern of interpretation and
the absolute calm - the extremely calm suspense - are two aspects that
Mathilde Monnier places at the centre of her ”visual poem”
”Signé”. These aspects are also major characteristics
of Merce Cunningham’s works. Moveable mirrors break up the dancers’
paths of movement. Depending on the spectator’s viewpoint, the
bodies disappear, are distorted or multiplied until there is an explosion
of images and perspectives.
