”Dance in Exile” collects evidence about the works of Viennese choreographers who were persecuted during the Third Reich and which have largely been neglected until today. These pieces are expressions of a particular time that we can then empathise with and relive. The focus will be on works by Gertrud Bodenwieser, Hilde Holger, Gertrud Kraus, Andrei Jerschik, Hanna Berger and Pola Nirenska among others. These provide discussion material that directs today’s generation of choreographers to their history.
